Did you know that this area along the North York Moors Coast is one of the few places that you can see the sun rise and set over the sea on the same day?

This picture was taken on the Whitby West Cliff on 18th June 2019 and captures one of the most beautiful evenings I have experienced. The evening was unusually balmy with hardly a breath of wind. The sun dropped below a layer of cloud and the air around us turned golden, then rosy and finally a fiery red bathing us all in its magical light. We watched as it continued its slow descent towards the horizon before finally sinking into the shimmering sea. 

My usual sunset photographs are from our holidays and most overseas but this was within 300 yards of home and over the actual North Sea!!
