Lisa Chapman ran The Endeavour in Staithes in the early 2000s and was featured by Rick Stein in his BBC TV series and book "Seafood Lovers' Guide". She now runs regular pop up restaurants in the local area and returns to The Endeavour over the May Day Bank holiday weekend for the first of her 2019 guest events. Tour de Yorkshire 2/3/4/5th May 2019
This exciting cycle race returns to Yorkshire for its 5th edition including stages through Whitby and the surrounding area. The race comes within 3 miles of Staithes as it journeys along the North York Moors coats between Whitby and Mickleby/Ellerby before heading inland towards Grosmont and on to Scarborough for the stage finish.

Saltburn Pier 150th Anniversary 11th May
Join in the celebrations as Saltburn’s much-loved pier reaches the grand old age of 150. Loads of family entertainment throughout the day including Antiques and Farmers Market, Archive films and footage, Sand Art and Sculptures and Live Music and Entertainment. The day concludes at 9.45pm with a Firework Finale and the switching on of the new pier lights.

Story Telling Weekend at Whitby Abbey 25th - 27th May
Whitby Abbey dominates the town's skyline and has just re-opened to the public following a major £1.6 million re-interpretation project by English Heritage which includes a new museum and new interpretation around the historic site.
The abbey is a great venue for s top off during any visit to Whitby, but the May Spring Bank holidays see the English Heritage team host a Story Telling Weekend . Join them as they explore the works of classic writers such as Bram Stoker, Charlotte Bronte and Lewis Carroll, all of whom were inspired by the Whitby and its abbey. This should get the kids' creative juices flowing so why not get them to enter the childrens’ writing workshop?
